Conditions

The BeweegKuur starts at your GP’s surgery. Your GP will decide whether you are eligible to take part in the BeweegKuur. There are a few conditions you must meet first. Your GP will tell you whether qualify. If you do not meet these conditions, the BeweegKuur is perhaps not the best way for you to work on your health. In that case, your GP will look for alternative treatment.

Conditions for taking part

The general practitioner will discuss the conditions for taking part in the BeweegKuur with you. In short, these conditions are the following:

  • You have type 2 diabetes or are at a heightened risk of contracting type 2 diabetes. Your GP can confirm this by means of a blood test.
  • You are motivated to start doing more exercise and/or sports activities
  • You are not getting enough exercise at the moment. Your GP can determine this using the Dutch Standard for Healthy Physical Activity (‘Norm Gezond Bewegen’).

There are also a number of medical reasons why some people who have diabetes cannot take part in the BeweegKuur. These are related to safety and the risk of injury and complications.

Are you eligible to take part in the BeweegKuur and do you want to work towards a healthier and more active lifestyle? Then your general practitioner can refer you to the lifestyle consultant. The lifestyle consultant will provide you with further assistance and supervision.
